Allāh Ta'ālā spoke to Ādam (alayhis salām): "O Ādam! Build for me on earth a house exactly below my house in heaven so that you and your children can worship Me by making tawāf around it just like the angels do around Bayt al-Ma'mūr."

Ādam (alayhis salām) went to Makkah and built the house of Allāh, then asked Allāh: "O Rabb, indeed for every worker is a wage and for me, too." "Yes, indeed for you too. Ask from Me what you wish," said Allāh Ta'ālā.

Ādam (alayhis salām) said: "O Rabb, send me back to Jannah." Allāh Ta'ālā said: "You will achieve that (in the hereafter)." Ādam (alayhis salām) said: "O Rabb, I confessed my mistake. I ask you to forgive those of my offspring who confess their mistakes and beg you while making tawāf around this house (Ka'bah)." Allāh Ta'ālā responded: "O Ādam, I forgave you. I also forgave those of your offspring who visit this house and repent from their sins."

The spot of Ka'bah al-Muazzamah remained uncertain from the flood of Nuh (alayhis salām) to the time of Ibrāhīm (alayhis salām). Allāh Ta'ālā commanded Ibrāhīm (alayhis salām) to build the Ka'bah and call people for hajj.

Ibrāhīm (alayhis salām) said: "O Rabb, my voice will not suffice for that." "Just make the call; I will make your voice reach everyone," said Allāh Ta'ālā. Upon this answer, he stepped on Maqām (station of) Ibrāhīm and looked around. He saw the whole earth, mountains, rocks, valleys, lands and seas before him. He placed his fingers on his ears and called the following message by turning towards East, West, North and South:

"O people, it is ordained on you to visit Bayt al-Atiq (Ka'bah ). Respond to the call of your Rabb, come!"

Those who have managed to do their Hajj since the time of Ibrāhīm (alayhis salām) till today are those who responded to the call 'Labbayk (at your disposal)'. A person can only be blessed to perform his Hajj as many times as he said 'Labbayk' to the call of Ibrāhīm (alayhis salām).
