The Mosque of Aisha

It lies 6 km from the Masjid al-Haram, at Tan'im, which marks the boundary of the Haram on the side of Medina al-Munawwarah. Aisha (r.a.) performed the Hajj together with the Prophet (s.a.w.) during the Farewell Pilgrimage. Because of her monthly courses she had not been able to perform Umrah. When they were about to return to Medina al-Munawwarah, she said to the Prophet (s.a.w.), "O Messenger of Allah! The people are returning having performed both Hajj and Umrah, while I have been deprived of Umrah." The Prophet (s.a.w.) sent our mother Aisha together with her brother Abd al-Rahman (r.a.) to Tan'im to perform an Umrah. There they entered the state of Ihram and prayed two rak'ahs of the Ihram prayer. For this reason, the mosque built there was named the Mosque of Aisha.
